 Ajoite is a rare mineral and is almost always found within quartz. Although name initially after Ajo, Arizona where it was first discovered, most Ajoite is from the Messina mine in South Africa, which is now closed. This source had the most beautiful specimens and at the time, the most plentiful. Any ajoite now on the market are from old miner stockpiles that have been released to the public. Ajoite has such a luminous blue-green color, often swirled with reds of hematite too. It has an emotionally soothing energy. Working with ajoite releases old grief, anger and pain and it is not unusual to experience tears as well as laughter. Ajoite awakens your compassion, both for yourself and for others. Ajoite heals the healer, and is highly nurturing. It makes me think of floating in a warm pool of salt or mineral water, perfectly supported and totally at ease. It is also believed to transmute negative energy into positive energy.

This is by far the largest piece of ajoite we have ever had. It is a good palm sized piece, our jaws dropped when we saw it. The color is intensely blue with vivid swirls of red which is truly striking. The opposite side shows natural formations of quartz which have been partially polished. The whiteness of the quartz produces a bright counterpoint to the ajoite's deep colors. The energy is also amazing. Extraordinarily soothing, even deeper than many pieces. It draws images when you felt totally nurtured and cared for. It reminds one of the love that others have for you. The healing energy is so profound, I really can't put it into words. It provides true unconditional love and support, totally enveloping you like a womb. This piece is truly a gift from the earth and the universe.

Ajoite produces a melding between the heart chakra and the throat chakra and facilitates speaking that which is in one's heart.
