Morion quartz is naturally formed black quartz, created from exposure to radiation, sister to smoky quartz. Because true morion quartz is rare in nature, black quartz often is recreated by irradiating quartz in commercial settings. While similar physical results occur, the crystals have a much different energetic feel. Physically natural morion quartz retains some translucence when held up to the light, while altered quartz will turn opaque. Morion quartz has a beautiful energy that is deeply grounding, but does not make you feel weighted down. They infuse you with warmth and comfort from head to toe. They instill confidence and joy in subtle yet profound ways.

This beautiful spirit appears almost obsidian black until it is held up into the light which illuminates her interior into beautiful rich smoky cognac color. It will also highlight the wispy color patterns within including phantoms. Etchings and record keepers appear on the surface as white lines, contrasting the dark exterior. She has a graceful form to her that has some sweeping curves. Even her face edges have been slightly softened through time. The main face is a beautiful large Isis face, amplifying her goddess energies, unfazed by the few minor bruises that are present. Her energy will wrap around you like a loving embrace.

A sister to smokey quartz, Morion quartz is very rare black quartz and is formed through natural radiation, from growing near uranium deposits. Morion itself is not radioactive and is safe to carry. When exposed to light for extended time they fade from black to gray. "Morions" were a type of helmet used around the time of the Conquistadors, which speaks to the stone's protective and shielding qualities. They are useful in shadow work, helping the wearer to face the dark aspects of self and to release obstacles. They are grounding and aid in coping with grief. Morion can be used to bring connection with the "darker" faces of the deity, such as the Crone and Hunter archetypes.
