Aegirine looks a lot like black tourmaline but is actually a sodium iron silicate that often occurs in alkaline volcanic rocks and appears as either a green/black or brown/black in color. However like black tourmaline is has a protective energy that is excellent for removing negative energy. Interestingly, although the crystals come often come from volcanic regions, Aegirine is named after Aegir a Scandinavian god of the sea. Water and hence the seas represent the emotional aspects of ourselves, and these crystals energy is strongest at this level. The aegirine is accompanied by crystals of feldspar, directing the energy inwards. It helps you to break old patterns and attachments reducing fear, anger and anxiety. This beautiful mineral combination is from Zomba, Malawi.

Both smoky quartz and aegerine crystals peak out from the chunky blocks of feldspar. Exploring this crystal helps to calm the mind as you explore the shimmering surfaces of the feldspar, the etchings and look for smoky crystals which are good at hiding within the feldspar.
