Kaolinite in quartz is a fairly unusual combination. The presence of kaolinite is very important in the creation of red phantom quartz. This is very apparent on the back side of the crystal where patterns of red and orange can be found with the white kaolinite. Within this area specks of metallic hematite catch the light.
