We had the pleasure of meeting a skilled carver in Tucson that loves working with unusual materials. We purchased several one of a kind spheres from him. This particular sphere is an incredible piece! This sphere was carved from a recent discovery of aegerine porphyry with pyrite inclusions from Arkansas. The material has been dubbed Midnight Sky since the pyrite inclusions shimmers like stars against the black throat of the midnight sky. The sphere has veins of white running through it that I assume could be quartz or calcite. The aegerine itself has a subtle color play of deep black to a dark slate grey. Typically aegerine is a high energy stone, but I feel a deep slow energy from this sphere. It is strongly protective against negativity and in particular psychic attacks.

Carved mineral balls have been contoured in the spherical configuration, becoming the most unified of all sacred geometrical shapes. They radiate energy in all directions, making balls ideal for grid anchors, depending on purpose. Spheres facilitate smoother communication in group gatherings by rounding off rough edges. They are often used for scrying as "windows" to faraway places: future, past and present. They have been used in the activity of gazing, as if from afar, in order to assist one in the evaluation of a present situation or circumstance. Crystal balls have been used to purify and to fill the gaps in the entire auric field when worn or held. Small spheres are also used as charms and worn or carried to prevent and/or to ameliorate degenerative diseases.

Pyrite is often overlooked as a serious light working stone because people have called it 'Fools Gold' for so long that it has become devalued in our minds. However, Pyrite is a very powerful stone with wonderful and useful qualities that shouldn't be overlooked any longer. The Peruvian Pyrite is magnificent and holds the energies of the Golden Sun within it. It is amazingly energizing. It increases physical stamina, stimulates the intellect and helps to transform thought into intelligent action. It is a wonderful stone for use in wealth magic or in trying to manifest needed energies.

Pyrite helps us to think more clearly, raises our vibrations, and is also protective of the energy field. It helps fight infections. An excellent shield-stone, pyrite removes negativity from the aura. Marcasite is essentially the same mineral.
