Unlike most kyanite, Indian kyanite often has a hardness of 6-7 no matter the direction. This allows this material to be polished into beautiful wands and sometimes jewelry. These gems are hard to find, but always a treasure when we come across a batch. Deep midnight blues glow when caught in the light. The surface has a silvery shimmer. This wand would make a good massage tool.
Kyanite is an aluminum silicate most commonly found in beautiful vivid hues of blue with a silvery shimmer to the surface. It is commonly mined in Brazil, Netherlands and India, each with its own unique properties. Kyanite has an unusual hardness characteristic; lengthwise across the stone its ranges from 4-5 Mohs but across the blade the hardness increases to 6-7 Mohs making it challenging to cut and polish. Kyanite most often forms in natural blades that are perfect for energy work of all kinds. Kyanite has a beautiful energy for opening and activating the chakras.
